Love

Embalmed thy heart with love-elixir—
Place in confidence with what’s true in love;
Be love always, to find both in a picture, a mirror,
And be it transient not, like a Marlboro puff.

If this invisible phenomenon be temporal,
And if love should shudder not in bad faith
Let it be fair—let it be a lesson for all,
And let it not be cries of heart as spate.

If love should, however, never pass with time,
Like a diminutive one, easily banished in mind,
forever pledged that it be not a sham,
And through it let millions of lights shine.
